June 19: let's get ready for a "porteno" week-end!

Who would have thought so? A 19 hour flight to get to Buenos Aires !! As soon as we arrived in the morning, Eugenia welcomed us to her nice little white appartment in Retiro district. This fancy neigbourhood did not catch our eye until we filled our stomach up and had a whole day sleep. Our first night in "Capital Federal"(Buenos Aires) could now be! The colorful avenida de Florida was introduced to us and it quickly became our first landmark. During the day, this long pedestrian paved street gets busy with little businesses, cheap restaurants and tango shows outdoors. At night, it turns mute and strangely quiet. A little further we could reach the avenida De Mayo where we discovered the famous Café Tortoni among a great deal of old book shops. This beautiful and beloved café used to be the meeting point of numerous politicians and intellectuals such as Jorge Luis Borges and Alfonsina Storni. We even sat at Frederico Garcia Lorca's table for a delicious "café con leche y medialunas" (latte with local sweets). Later at night, shortly after a cozy dinner and a couple of glasses of wine, I was falling asleep again...
