June 24: known as the coldest day of the year

Although the way things work in Argentina seems to be quite complicated, making new friends is so easy! Inviting people over for dinner is a common habit to start a friendship. We had barely bumped into some new faces that we were already welcomed to Marion & Paul's new house, Vreni's private exhibition, Natalia's special dinner for 4, Eugenia's lunch at her favorite "parilla" (delicious meat assortment) in calle Defensa, Andrea's free tango lessons and Confusion del mundo's concert in Abasto. No need to say we had a blast in the week-end !

June 24 was a cold day. In fact the coldest ever. Argentinians would say "coldest day of the year"! Thank goodness, it was also my birthday and we had just moved in our beautiful San Telmo appartment. I felt warm enough to spend my afternoon in the veggie market and cook the whole evening for my friends. Guess I still wasn't familiar with the local products: I burnt the soup (!!), overcooked the rice, used the wrong olive oil. As a result, dinner was a disaster except for the salad (which I forgot to serve). Fortunately, Alireza had bought a huge strawberry cake and a bottle of champagne !!
