August 5: CORRIENTES
The 5 hour bus trip to San Ignacio was quite an adventure. We crossed over a great deal of villages in the region, discovered interesting faces, had "chipas" snacks (local cheese bread specialities), gazed at dazzled bus swinging on groovy rythms and driver's laughs. The journey to Corrientes was not as fun since we tried to catch up with a few hours sleep before landing to the port and heading to Salta the same evening. Puerto Corrientes is absolutely charming. People are sociable, welcoming and very generous. That lovely little town caressed by the rio Parana breeze contains more than 10 museums, 7 parks, numerous restaurants, a teater, an arts and crafts institution, a fishing and sailing harbour, a beach. We met local craftsman Rodrigo with whom we shared maté and sugarcane brandy. In addition to the drinks, a rare 1989 argentinian coin "regalito" (gift) was givin to us. On the way back to the terminal, we bumped into a sweet man that kindly recomended us his favorite places in cherished Salta. Some good vibes to face our 2nd night in the bus...
